Collecting, processing and sharing personal data

Personal data is only stored if you provide us with this voluntarily, e.g. as part of a registration, a survey, a price tender, an online application or to perform a contract. Your data is used for the purpose for which it was collected. Furthermore, EWE AG processes and uses data within the framework of data protection regulations for market analysis and to inform you about offers from EWE AG. Data is only used for other purposes if you gave your consent prior to the data being processed.

Your personal data may only be shared with third parties to the extent that this is permitted by law or if you have given your consent. If you make use of the availability check or the online order offered as part of EWE’s telecommunications services, the data you provide is passed on directly to EWE TEL GmbH. EWE AG does not have any knowledge about this data. In this case, your data is collected and used to check availability and to perform the contracted telecommunication services. The same applies to existing customers who use the webmail, online TV or “My EWE – telecommunications” services from EWE TEL GmbH. If you have any questions regarding data protection in respect of these services, please contact EWE TEL GmbH.

If an application is made to the EWE Group, we collect, process and use your personal data to process your application. Your applicant data is only used for this purpose and within the framework of legal provisions. Your data is always handled confidentially. We only collect this kind of personal data from you that is required for the application process. In addition to personal questions, you may also be asked questions related to the position. Your data will be made available to the managers of the respective Group company. As part of your online application, you can view, edit or delete your data or the attached documents (e.g. CV) at any time. Your data will be deleted at the latest three months after the application process has been concluded. The organisation responsible within the meaning of Section 3 para. 7 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) is the Group company named in the respective job advertisement. In the case of speculative applications, the Group company receiving the speculative application is the organisation responsible. As part of processing order data in the application process, we draw on the support of internal and external service providers pursuant to Section 11 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

Use of cookies

EWE uses cookies for some parts of the website in order to ensure excellent customer service, to allow easy access to our products and services and to offer a greater range of services. Cookies are identifiers that are sent to your computer by a web server, in order to identify you for the duration of your visit.

You can configure your browser to let you know whenever sites want to set a cookie, to block cookies or to delete cookies from your hard drive when your browsing session has finished. This will allow you to see when a site is using cookies. We can find out which areas of our website are particularly popular, how our visitors navigate our website and how long they spend in the different areas. This information is analysed for statistical purposes; the individual user remains anonymous.

Matomo

This website uses the open source web analytics service Matomo (formerly “Piwik”). Matomo uses cookies that are stored on your computer, which enables an analysis of your use of the website. We use the statistics to improve the usability of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is stored exclusively on a server located in Germany. The IP address is anonymized before storage, which means that the data cannot be assigned to a specific person.
You can prevent the storage of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser software. However, we would like to point out that in this case you will not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

The data processing is carried out according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. A DS-GVO.

Social plug-ins

So-called “social plug-ins” are used on EWE AG’s web pages. EWE AG currently uses plug-ins for the Facebook, Google+ and Twitter social networks.
Facebook: Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. You can see the design of the Facebook plug-in here: http://developers.facebook.com/plugins
Google: Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
Twitter: Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA
Under certain circumstances information, which may include personal data, may be passed on to the social networks via the plug-ins and then used. EWE AG prevents data from being passed on to social networks unintentionally and without the knowledge of the user by means of a “2-click solution”. In order to activate a desired plug-in, this must first be activated by clicking on the corresponding icon. Only once the plug-in has been activated will information be collected and passed on to the respective social network. EWE AG itself does not collect any personal data via the plug-ins or their use.

When a plug-in is activated, the social network receives information that your browser has opened the corresponding page of our website. This also applies to the activation of the Facebook plug-in, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not presently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is sent from your browser directly to a server run by the respective social network, where it is then stored.

If you are logged in to a social network at the same time, the operator of the social network can attribute the corresponding activities to your account. Furthermore, if you interact with the plug-ins, e.g. by clicking on the “Like” button or by submitting a comment, the corresponding information is also sent to the respective social network.

For more details regarding the purpose and scope of data collected and used by the operator of the respective social network and your associated rights and settings options, please consult the respective data protection advice.
